Syntext is glad to announce the availability of Syntext Serna V2.5. This version introduces several new usability features:
  • Edit Selection as Text. Now you can edit selected portion of a document as XML source without switching to text mode.
  • Convert To XInclude. Allows you to create an XInclude inclusion with a simple selection.
  • Comment/Uncomment. You can convert selected document portion to/from XML comment.
  • Ability to force Windows/Unix style line-breaks in the documents.

Syntext Serna WYSIWYG XML Editor with WebDAV Support
Syntext is glad to announce the availability of Serna V2.3 Release Candidate with the following new features:
  • WebDAV support. Serna now may open and save files, access images and other resources over WebDAV.
  • Text XInclude support (aka parse="text"). It is now possible to XInclude text files into the XML document.
  • Basic forms support. Serna introduces XSL FO extensions that allow using edit-boxes and combo-boxes in the document view. The functionality also allows "in-place" attribute editing.
  • Preview Python API. It is now possible to write Serna plugins in Python. See Using Serna API in Help for examples.
  • Reorganized XML meta-data. The XML meta-data for a specific document type (e.g. DTD, schemas, templates, etc) now can be placed to the single directory. Serna also can work with packages located outside of Serna installation.

This Serna version brings a number of major usability enhancement features, including:
  • Custom Content Insertion Commands. Ability to create commands/buttons that insert highly-customizable content templates (for example, insert "graphics", "emphasis", and "itemizedlist/listitem").
  • XSLT Stylesheet Parameter Sets. Ability to change values of top-level XSLT stylesheet parameters while editing document (for example, changing font sizes or switching draft mode on/off).
  • Save All and Autosave functionality.
